What is SAP MM?
SAP MM (Materials Management) manages everything a company buys and stores. It covers procurement (requisitions, purchase orders, supplier contracts and approvals) and inventory management, including goods receipts, stock transfers and physical counts. Every goods movement is valued and posted to finance automatically, which makes MM one of the most integrated modules in SAP S/4HANA.

Can a non-IT person learn SAP MM?
Yes. SAP MM is a functional module focused on purchasing and inventory processes. No programming is needed: understanding how businesses buy and store materials matters far more.
What is the difference between SAP MM and SAP SD?
SAP MM handles the buying side (procure-to-pay): suppliers, purchase orders and inventory. SAP SD handles the selling side (order-to-cash): customers, sales orders, deliveries and billing. Many consultants learn both over time.
Does SAP MM include warehouse management?
SAP MM covers inventory at plant and storage-location level. Detailed warehouse processes such as bins and picking strategies belong to SAP EWM, which we introduce in our S/4HANA Supply Chain course.
